Effects of Psilocybin

The effects of taking psilocybin can vary widely depending on the individual, the dose, the setting, and other factors.

Generally, the effects of psilocybin can be divided into three phases: “onset”, “peak”, and “come-down”.

During the onset phase, which typically lasts 30-60 minutes after ingestion, individuals may experience mild physical sensations such as nausea or tingling, as well as changes in mood, perception, and thought. Colors may appear more vibrant, and sounds may be more intense. Thoughts may become more introspective, and individuals may experience a sense of openness or connectedness.

During the peak phase, which typically lasts 2-4 hours after ingestion, the effects of psilocybin become more intense. Individuals may experience visual and auditory hallucinations, such as seeing geometric patterns or hearing music that isn't actually there. They may also experience changes in perception of time and space, feelings of euphoria or anxiety, and a sense of insight or spiritual connection.

During the come-down phase, which typically lasts 1-2 hours after the peak phase, the effects of psilocybin gradually wear off. Individuals may experience feelings of tiredness, but they may also feel a sense of clarity or renewed energy. Some individuals may also experience an afterglow effect, in which they feel more positive and open-minded in the days and weeks following their psilocybin experience.

It is important to note that psilocybin should only be used under the guidance of a trained healthcare professional in a safe and controlled environment. Self-medicating with psilocybin or using it recreationally can increase the risk of adverse effects.
